Each month the McGovern Ceili Dancers will be recognizing a special dancer that captures the spirit and essence of a good team mate and fellow dancer.
The requirements and qualifications to be considered for this demanding but honored award are as follows:
1. A positive attitude
2. Good attendance
3. Motivation/Willingness to learn
4. Regular practice
5. Dance progress/Accomplishments
6. Wearing dance attire/hair back
7. How the student relates to other students Congratulations to Liam White from MCD Ohio and Bridie Runge from MCD Indiana!
Liam White is 14 years old and has been dancing since the Third grade. He got interested in Irish

dance because his sister wanted to do and thought he might as well give it a go too!
We were lucky to have danced at the school where Liam's mom worked and he tells us the dancers so much they decided to sign up! Liam loves to perform around the community and I think we can all agree that along with his incredible Irish dance skills, he brings a certain kind of charm to any of our shows! He says he feels a little nervous when he performs or competes but his excitement and enthusiam is what really shines through when you see him perform His favorite dance is the Level 2 (or Ullmhuchan) Reel and when asked how he feels about competing he shares this with us "It is a lot like performing for an audience but more nerve racking. "
Liam feels that Irish dancing has helped him with fencing because, as he says, both require fast footwork!
Congratulations Liam! Your hardwork in and out of the studo is really paying off!

And from our Indiana Tribe, please congratulate Bridie Runge, she is 11 years old and has been dancing since the Second grade
She was orginally enrolled in a ballet class, but since her dad is from Ireland she is more interested in learning to Iriish dance
After she saw the McGovern Ceili Dancers perform at the Irish Fest in West Lafayette, they made a point to meet Ms Tamara and signed up right away!
Like most of our young ladies she really likes the costumes and hair, and of course the Irish music and she really enjoys dancing on St. Patrick's day!
When asked what her favorite dances are she gave us two dances, the Light Jig as her favorite solo and the 4-hand reel is my favorite group dance.
Performing for an audience makes her nervous and happy at the same time and she feels her best dancer are they once she feels confident of and have practiced regularly.
Bridie has also been to a few competitions and has found them to be a lot of fun
Bridie is a great ambassador for the McGovern Ceili dancers, she likes to tell people about her dance school and the dances she learns. She also feels the Irish dance has helped her to be a better violinist because learn to understand rhythm. Congratulations Bridie, you consistently improve each time I see you dance!
